The higher the expectations you put on your students, the more they will practice. The more they practice, the faster they improve. The faster they improve, the more fun they have. The more fun they have, the more they remain active students and tell all their guitar playing friends to take lessons from YOU. So here is the formula: Higher Expectations => faster progress => more fun => take lessons longer => refer their friends to you => more $$$ for you! Many guitar teachers have low expectations or no expectations of their students. The problem is that your students will either consciously or subconsciously sense this and their practice habits and self confidence may mirror your standards of expectation for them. When you expect that they WILL progress quickly and become great guitar players, your students will often respond by having the same expectation for themselves. The choices they will make (such as how much to practice and how much to concentrated when practicing etc.) will typically transform their guitar playing at a relatively fast rate!
