Guitar Teaching Tip

As you know, many guitar students want you to teach them how to play their favorite songs. As you begin transcribing the song show your student the transcribing process. Walk them through your thought process, tell them what you are thinking about each step of the way as you are listening to the song and finding the notes on the guitar. It is the ‘process’ of transcribing that holds so much massive value for your student. First, your student’s ear will develop instantly because now they know that transcribing is more than ‘listening’ it is also about ‘thinking’. Second, they now know ‘what’ to actually listen for and ‘how’ to listen and hear music. Third, their appreciation for learning and playing the song will also be enhanced. Bottom line is: Your guitar students will learn much more about guitar playing and becoming a musician this way!
