If
you are a musician with a strong desire to build a great
music career, you have probably heard "advice" from other
non-musicians. Often you will hear about how "risky" it is to get
into the music
industry, how
"music isn't a real job", and other such things. While I don't
recommend taking expert music advice from someone who isn't actually in the
music business; there is one piece of advice you may have heard which does have
some merit.
The
advice is this: "To make it in the music business you need a back up
plan." What does this mean exactly? Does this mean you need to immediately
go to your local college and enroll to get a business degree just in case you
don't make it? The short answer is no. You should have your back up plans work
together with your musical goals in a relevant manner. Find out how you can build
a successful
music career by watching this video on how
to get into the music industry.
